With the head of a top high street fashion company warning that the price of fashion clothing will potentially rise by 10% next autumn it is worth considering the way you are going to look fashionable in the next year. Because of the fall in the price of sterling it will make the price of importing fashion clothing a lot higher in the next year as most new clothing is priced in dollars and comes from Asia.
Sourcing for clothing has gone out to countries like China, Bangladesh and Vietnam because of their reduced labour prices but this seems to have had a harsh impact for many large labels as with the falling price of sterling, the exchange rate of sterling with dollars has reduced by 15%. Lots of retailers will struggle to pass on higher prices as the cash paying public are potentially going to be a lot more precious with their cash and may decide to hold back rather than pay out unless perks are their to purchase fashion products.
Some enterprising organisations have been running fashion show fundraising events at which you can purchase original labelled clothes with up to 50% off the recommended retail price. They are sold as slightly imperfect though most are not seconds but over-runs or end of lines. These Fundraising events let people help a good cause of their choice, and purchase a choice of labelled clothing at knocked down rates.
Personally I think it will do people good to discover different ways of putting their mits on fashion wear. So maybe if you have a School fundraising event or village hall fundraising event you could get in a fashion show fundraiser, make buying a fun event and save yourself some cash at the same time.
