15 removal men and a piano
In May 2006, there was an interesting story in the news regarding a group of removal men and a piano, and no, they weren’t removing it. A piano was found underneath a cairn at the top of Ben Nevis, without any trace of how it got there. The initial claim was that had been left there in 1971 by a highland strongman. Likely story? Even less likely was the truth that emerged. Apparently a group of fifteen from Alexander Removals had drunkenly traipsed up the mountain with it, in a bid to raise money for research into cystic fibrosis, and then were too exhausted to bring it back down again. Oh the irony, removal men who can’t remove things.
