Some People Require An Emergency Response With Symptoms Of A Food Allergy

Soon after a person eats, symptoms of a food allergy occur when something in the food has an allergen that affects sensitive people. These symptoms can last a short while or they can be life threatening. A peanut allergy can be caused by inadvertently eating a tiny quantity of the offending substance, setting off a chain reaction that requires a trip to the emergency room. Foods that often cause problems are eggs, milk, peanuts and pistachios. There is a difference between food intolerance and a food allergy and a clear understanding of both of these situations will prevent a major catastrophe where symptoms of a food allergy produces asthma like symptoms requiring immediate medical intervention.
