Global vulnerability
Anytime we create something that no one else has created before we have rights to it. In order to declare those rights and to be sure that no one has claimed the idea before we must be granted a patent. To get a patent in this country is a rather straight forward but time consuming process. Getting a patent under global patent laws is impossible today. Some countries have subscribed to international treaties governing patents but others have not. The inventor may have local protection but be vulnerable globally. In order to protect ideas and encourage new ones we need realistic and enforceable international patent laws.
