Advanced Altimeter in a watch the Suunto Core can predict local weather.
With the advances in technology in recent years altimeter watches have also seen many new features being added. Suunto have recently released a new range of altimeter watches called Suunto Core. One of the features on these top of range watches is a barometer and thermometer. These functions can be used to monitor changes in weather over time, useful if you are in a remote area and unable to get up to date forecasts. In order for the changes to be meaningful the air pressure needs to be monitored at the same location. Easy enough overnight but if you moving around during the day but returning to the same place at night it may be worth noting the pressure in the morning and evening to keep an eye on any significant changes. In general terms rising air pressure is a good sign, high pressure systems usually means stable settled weather but a rapid or significant drop in air pressure invariably means bad weather may be on its way.
